How Do You Make The Right Decision?
We all face decisions, simple ones as well as major ones that can deeply change our life. Even the minor ones have an impact: on our time schedule, our well-being, our relationship with others.
Decisions can be stressful! Just the thought of having to make a decision can sometimes give us a sense of anxiety.
The following three simple questions can be really helpful when making a decision:
Question 1: “Is this really me?”
Each decision is the expression of who we are. “Should I really buy this dress? Or this car?” When you’re thorn between two options, just ask yourself this simple question. This will also help you achieve a stronger awareness of who you are.
Question 2: “Do I really want this?”
How often have you wasted time or money on things that would not make you happy?
We sometimes feel we must make a decision, maybe out of pride, or because we perceive an intentional or even unintentional pressure by others. “I must do this, no matter at what price!”.
This simple question helps us go deeper and be more honest with ourselves.
Question 3: “Will this get me closer to my goal?”
In order for this question to work, we need to first get clarity about our goals. Our goal could be as simple as wanting to deliver a high quality report. Or it could be starting a business. “Will dealing with this help me get closer to my goal?”
This question works best when we are aware of our “ultimate goal” in life, meaning when we know our purpose or mission in life, and we are aware of what we really and deeply want.
Next time you face a decision, maybe even tonight, consider one or all of these questions, and see what happens!
